A Bench Built for Power Modules

Applying a power module correctly is as important as choosing the right part. To support customers more effectively, BeiLuo has opened an FAE verification bench dedicated to Fuji Electric IGBT modules and IPM. The bench lets our engineers measure gate waveforms, switching loss, turn-off overshoot and thermal behavior before a customer commits to a design, turning advice into evidence.

What We Measure

The bench is equipped with high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, differential probes, current sensors and a thermal stage. Engineers characterize gate-drive behavior, measure turn-off overshoot at the module terminals, and quantify switching loss across frequency. For IPM, the bench verifies the control interface, the overcurrent trip level and the alarm hold times so that a customer's controller behaves as expected. These measurements let us recommend gate resistors, sense-resistor values and thermal solutions with confidence rather than by rule of thumb.

From Selection to Validation

When a customer asks which module suits their application, our FAE team can now validate the recommendation on the bench. We compare 2-pack and 6-pack IGBT modules, match an IPM to a compact drive, and evaluate the X series against the V series for a given operating point. The result is a design path backed by measured data, which reduces the risk of late-stage surprises.

Thermal Validation

Thermal design is often where designs fail. The bench measures case temperature under load, letting us verify heatsink sizing against the module's junction-to-case thermal resistance and the customer's ambient. For high-current modules and IPM with integrated protection, this validation is especially valuable, because a marginal thermal path can derate a design or trigger the overtemperature protection during normal operation.

Supporting Customers Remotely

Not every customer can send hardware, so the bench also produces reference data that our team shares directly: recommended gate-drive values, the expected overshoot and the thermal headroom for common configurations. This shortens customer bring-up and makes remote support concrete, because the customer receives numbers and waveforms rather than general advice.

Validation Reports

For larger projects we prepare short validation reports that summarize the measurements, the recommended component values and the thermal margin. These reports help customers justify a design decision internally and give their own review process a documented basis.

Why This Matters for Fuji Electric Designs

The Fuji Electric X series chip switches fast and rewards a tight layout, and IPM modules move much of the power-stage engineering inside the package. Both benefit from measured guidance: the X series on gate drive and commutation-loop layout, and the IPM on the control interface and the trip level. Our bench targets exactly those decisions, so a customer's first prototype is closer to a production design.

A Commitment to Engineering Support

BeiLuo is an authorized Fuji Electric distributor, but we aim to be more than a source of parts. The verification bench is part of a deliberate investment in engineer-level support, because the customers who buy power modules also need help applying them. That support, combined with authorized stock and complete documentation, is what distinguishes a true distributor from a broker.

How to Use the Bench

Customers can request bench support through the contact page. Describe the application, the candidate module or IPM and the operating point, and our team will either provide reference data or, for larger projects, run a focused validation and share the results. The service is part of our support for Fuji Electric designs and is available to customers evaluating or producing equipment around these modules.

Measuring the Integrated IPM

An intelligent power module hides much of its behavior inside the package, so the bench plays an especially useful role for IPM customers. Engineers verify the current-sense resistor value that sets the overcurrent trip level, confirm the alarm hold times and measure case temperature under load. Because those characteristics depend on the customer's board and cooling, a bench measurement turns a datasheet parameter into a verified design value. Customers evaluating an IPM for a new appliance or drive can therefore design the control interface with confidence.

Consistent Method

Every measurement follows the same method, so results are comparable across modules and generations. That consistency lets us tell a customer, with evidence, how the X series compares with the V series at their operating point, rather than repeating a general claim.

Looking Ahead

We plan to expand the bench's coverage to more module families and to standardize the reference data we publish, so customers can self-serve more of the common questions. The objective is consistent, measurable support that helps Fuji Electric designs reach production faster and perform reliably in the field.
